It has been claimed the internal combustion engine will be obsolete in 20 years – being replaced by electric vehicles. I doubt that, but there will certainly be a strong move away from such vehicles. At present there are the options of oil based fueled engines and electric engines. The problems have always been a lack of battery storage.
But now companies like BP are planning to instal battery charging centres in New Zealand’s main centres. I’m not so sure that electric cars will be the only game in town for a number of years. But it will come and the Opec Arab oil czars will have difficulty selling their products.
But there are other alternatives: Water based engines!
